OK, so after Melbourne Cup day it's been mild and rainy all week.
Um, I think I have a job at a restaurant that serves over 40 wines by the glass. It's a cool restaurant, which is kind of a shame because now I'll never be able to go and enjoy a meal there if it's my place of work. The next step, therefore, is to find some living quarters for the next few weeks (particularly Xmas and New Year), which hopefully I will be able to do soon.
I have decided I would not live here because there's no culture. I know that sounds terribly snobbish and I am possibly currently engaged in a war of words with TheKiwi on this subject. Anyway I have heard from lots of people that Melbourne is the place to go for that sort of thing. Well, that's as may be but I have pretty firmly decided what I thought I would think before I even left; Europe kicks historical and cultural arse and I'm European, goddamnit!
That's not to say that I don't like it here. I do like it for what it is and Sydney really buzzes and it's much more of a 24 hour city than, say, London and I like that. Time takes on its own meaning when you could basically go anywhere at any time and do anything.
So, well, I guess I sort of live in Sydney now so I am going to have to get into the swing of that fact, with work and going to the beach on my days off. We'll see how I go!
